Karl Pettersen at 11th Annual Yale Alumni in Energy Conference
Karl Pettersen, Societe Generale’s Head of Ratings Advisory, Americas, spoke last week at the 11th Annual Yale Alumni in Energy Conference, to an audience of energy consultants, regulators, investors, and energy companies, as well as Yale faculty and students.
Fellow speakers included the chief technology officer for energy at IBM, the global head of energy at Accenture, and Bill Nordhaus, 2018 Nobel Laureate in Economics.
Karl addressed the audience about how the ongoing disruption and transformation of the oil and gas industry requires a new way of thinking about credit risk analysis and credit ratings in the sector. Karl also spoke about how the need for new analytical benchmarks will be exacerbated by vast future capital needs as the sector transitions towards novel business models around renewable energy and new technologies.
